(Re)build the territory: How can we strengthen the city through art and culture?
A conversation about strategies to develop and promote public spaces
The event will focus on the many ways culture and its different forms can reinforce strategies to develop and promote public spaces. First, panelists will be invited to share about their approaches and practices to enliven public spaces throughout the year, how to develop cultural life in proximity and models to enhance culture in the local identity.ย
Next, Fred Kent, a placemaking pioneer, will detail why improvisation and collective engagement are key for public spaces and to strengthen social fabric. By highlighting unique qualities in cities, he will show that it is possible to slightly change the way people use their neighbourhood and cities. He will also discuss how outdoor public spaces around libraries, cultural centers, colleges and universities can become places of social and cultural development.ย
