Mission

More together than alone.

We believe collective experiences can transform our relationships with our neighbors and our environments. Ultimately, they help connect people and enable change within society. Here’s why we do what we do.

Dance

Developing pedestrian spaces is a way for cities to become more sustainable and resilient. Walking makes you happy; dancing makes you happier. Break the rules in the street, one two three steps at a time. Every city should have a dancing strategy.

Storytelling

When the walls are talking, what do they say? Given the chance, what would you say to them? Cities are built from the stories of the people and things in them. By listening to their tales, we can collectively write the stories to come.

Sensing

We don’t really need to talk that much. Our senses can do that for us. We look for new means of connection and communication with the sensory world. From raw vibrations to memories located in your palate. Take a break, share a sensation.

Music

Music is innate, universal. It moves body and mind. It’s also beyond language, allowing us to connect with people across barriers of culture, age or origins. That is why many of our projects use music to create collective emotions. If in doubt, make it sing.

Nature

A deeper empathy for nature would help us better respect its needs and protect it more. Nature holds an endless reserve of inspiration. It teaches us to reduce our pace. To travel at the speed of light. Move like stars. Talk like trees.

Gatherings

Many urban areas suffer from a lack of street life. We want to bring people outside so they can take ownership of their cities. Let’s meet in the street, in the alley, next to the railroad tracks, or in a vacant lot by the sea.

Rituals

Routines and rituals are both based on repetition. While one is not given much thought, the other marks moments with intent. We believe profound change in society can happen when the everyday is transformed with meaning and awe. In Writing Life, Annie Dillard wrote that “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” We say OUI!

People

Study after study tells us we are becoming lonelier, more isolated. Connections through a screen cannot replace time spent together. We believe in experiences unique enough you want to discuss them with whoever is standing close by. Spaces that are just strange enough that you will greet them with “Hello, what the heck is this?”

Our newsletter is sent two or three times a year. Or maybe four? One can never know.
